Brandon had won so far. Mandy had felt bad for that poor French guy. He hadn't known what hit him. And then he'd beaten that fellow with the very pretty flag. And now here he was, up against a British guy. Home turf advantage, as it were, so the girls had just tried to be all the more supportive.

The Englishman was fast for such a big guy, and honestly, Mandy was having a hard time keeping track of who was winning.

Until it was clear that Brandon hadn't. Her heart sank a little for him. Still, Bronze was a lovely medal.

And Mandy just chuckles a little, listening to them both.

"You always side with him on it, you realize this is the chilli that made Superman go red int he face, right?" Liv just stared at Brandon for a second before she shook her head.

"Mandy if you've never had the pleasure my dad makes possibly the world's most corrosive chilli. If you ever need to melt something or warm up after a cold day in space, let me know. He keeps tons of it in the freezer."

"Big blue may have the invulnerability and all, but he still has the total north-midwest spice tolerance. Your dad's chili is great stuff - manages to dial up the heat that much, while keeping it tasting like, you know, chili."

"I absolutely believe both of you. Clearly, Mr Quuens chili should be brought acrors the galaxy to comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable"

"I can tolerate it because of the Queen genes, and you B' have the Gardner hardheadedness which is pretty much impervious to most forms of attack and logic." Ok, so that was half a joke at least.

"You know, depending on who you ask that pretty much applies to everything about my dad." That was in response to Mandy, and that was sadly not a joke.

Brandon chuckles. "I... can't really argue that one." he replies, taking it in the spirit in which the comments about Gardners was intended. "Besides, my dad has wanted to get the recipe for a while, wants to do a 5-alarm chili burger with that, ghost pepper sauce and pepper jack. Your dad has kept his secrets where the chili is concerned though."

"Your dad's a fascinating person like that."

"Fascinating is something all our families have in common I think. Your dad is pretty out of the ordinary too." It was true, though they were different all 3 of them had quite out of the nor, families.

"That's also pretty hard to argue. Haven't heard from in a while - which Dad is fairly happy about, but I doubt a lot has changed."

Mandy just grins. "Dad is immutable. His latest projects have been a little quieter, but the leopard does not change his shorts."
