"Really guys? So close to the Brownstone too?"

Alex Rice-Matthews, otherwise known as the Green Lantern, stands at the mouth of an alley way in full uniform. He's got that brilliant green aura around him and is smirking at a pair of young thugs wielding bats. They had been threatening a man for his wallet and cellphone until the hero arrived. Now they're debating what to do.

"We can take him! That's the lame lantern that can't do anything against wood!" one of the thugs tries to assure the other, shaking his bat a bit. Alex just sighs.

"Two things. Don't need my powers to kick your butts...and well..." he gestures upwards, waiting to see the surprised looks on the criminals' faces.

Will has always liked New York. Sure, it's reputation is really bad, especially compared to Fawcett, but it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be and even then it's no Gotham. It's a nice place and with lots of people. A good place just to waste a day away, be it in the major downtown area or in a delicatessen in Midtown or the JSA Brownstone. This wasted day leads him to Central Park.

Or, rather, the skies above it. He looks down at the huge expanse of green in the middle of the gray, and he begins to scan for a good place to fly down and not be noticed. It is a bit harder to do here.

"And I shall shed my light over dark evil.
For the dark things cannot stand the light,
The Light of the Green Lantern!
"

With a flash of brilliant green light, Alex Rice-Matthews recharged his ring. The young Green Lantern smiled as he felt the power surging within him again. It was a rush he was quickly learning to love. Putting his Lantern back into the little pocket dimension he kept it in most of the time, he starts towards the edge of the rood.

Dealing with all those rioters had been a pain. Especially when a few got it in their heads to attack him just for being green. It was moments like that when Alex was glad he'd trained so much with Wildcat before Grandpa Alan ever gave him his ring. It made dealing with people wielding wooden bats a lot easier. Now that the riots had been ended and the world was saved, most of the people had started making their way back home.

"Well, that could have gone a lot worse," Alex remarked idly, peering down at the streets below.
