"Really guys? So close to the Brownstone too?"

Alex Rice-Matthews, otherwise known as the Green Lantern, stands at the mouth of an alley way in full uniform. He's got that brilliant green aura around him and is smirking at a pair of young thugs wielding bats. They had been threatening a man for his wallet and cellphone until the hero arrived. Now they're debating what to do.

"We can take him! That's the lame lantern that can't do anything against wood!" one of the thugs tries to assure the other, shaking his bat a bit. Alex just sighs.

"Two things. Don't need my powers to kick your butts...and well..." he gestures upwards, waiting to see the surprised looks on the criminals' faces.

"Cool. Anything in particular you want?"

"Just ask them not to put any ice in my drink?"

"I'll remember that then," Will says as he heads for the main counter, running though a couple of things in his head as he goes to order. He gets the stuff, and as he's waiting...he tries to remember. What did Alex ask for again? No ice, right? Or was it lots of ice?

Will shifts his mind a few times before settling on the "no ice" option. Curse him and his stupid memory!

Will makes it back to the table, looking a bit sheepish.

"Did I mess up the drink?"

Alex leans back in his chair and waits. He's planning on what he wanted to do later in the night and idly humming a song that has been in his head all day. When Will returns, he grins.

"No, you got it right, buddy."

"Phew! I forgot right after you told me, so I guessed right," Will admitted as he put the trays down.

"So soon, Will?" Alex asked, scooping up a little salt to add to his food.

"I have horrible memory, Alex. You know that," Will said with a smile.

[different_kind_of_green]

"Still, that was pretty quick," Alex said. He gave a quick smile before starting to eat. "You know, if it weren't for that mugging earlier, I'd be half expecting a super villain to show up now."

"You say that and I'm sure it's gonna happen. Like some Superhero Murphys Law or something like that."

This is said only half joking.

Alex sighs a little and shakes his head. "Usually it does though. I mean it happened a lot whenever I was hanging out with my dads."

"Isn't your hero dad publicly known? I can see why he might, if some jerk wanted to find him. My mom and dad didn't have that problem."

[different_kind_of_green]

"Yes and no," Alex replies, waggling his hand from side to side. "His ID is out there along with everyone else from his Infinity Inc days but a family friend kind of really buried it so you have to be a massively dedicated fan or do a lot of digging. And since Dad was never that big time," he shrugs, sipping his drink. "People recognize my other dad more often."

"What? Really? Wow. I woulda thought it would be the other way," Will said before he grabbed a fry.

"I thought the same growing up. But more people recognize 'Dad, the lawyer that helps keep supervillains in jail' more than they do 'Dad, the superherp'," Alex chuckles.

"I guess that would be more memorable if your hero dad isn't as well known," Will admits.

[different_kind_of_green]

"Yeah. There's still the occasional fanboy and those villains that he's fought personally or that have some kind of grudge against him, other dad, or Grandpa Alan but it's not like people recognize him the moment he goes out."

"Well, I'm sure your dads and Grandpa Alan can handle them. But it still doesn't stop the random muggins, huh?" Will said as he smiled a bit. He did kinda know the random mugging/robbery/high speed chase he would feel obliged to stop.

"Yeah, we're all tough enough to take 'em," Alex chuckles. "Nothing ever does, man. Nothing ever does."

"Oh well. I guess it means more chances to show how wrong they are," Will said with a small smile.

[different_kind_of_green]

"Definitely," Alex pauses to eat some of his food. "This place is pretty good," he remarks. "Looks like we've got a place to add to the Brownstone's book of take out choices."

There is now a big smile there.

"Oh yeah! This is really good! I'd say this was a good choice on your part."

[different_kind_of_green]

"Hey, Will," Alex reaches over to pat his friend's shoulder. "Give yourself some credit too. Wouldn't have come here if you didn't agree to come with me."

Will...with that, he kind of...well, he kinda hides himself behind his sandwich. He's always been one to not care for the attention. It's a strange world, where the biggest and strongest (at least potentially) member of the next gen of the JSA to not crave attention like that.

Alex just arches a brow. Leaning to the side, he peeks around the sandwich. "You do know 'If I can't see them, they can't see me' doesn't actually work, right?" he teases. "C'mon back out, Will."

"I-I know, Alex. I just don't really ...don't handle attention that well. Positive o-or negative."
