Henry's ribbing causes Ava to blink once, and his lips twist in amusement. "I'm sorry, Green. Most of my experience in getting dressed up involved yards upon yards of material, gold dust, about a million dollars in jewelry and more makeup than I'd care to admit. I much prefer the way I look without all that crap."

He gazes over the banister, then grins upon seeing Josh, "Take a look at you, Josh. I can't complain about how these suits can make someone look though..". In a louder tone, he calls, "Have you guys seen Josh?"

"At this point I'll have to take someone up on that," She grouses in a good natured tone. She still doesn't have her preferred footwear on so she has to step out of her room carefully while holding the dress so t doesn't slip around.

"At least it's red," she comments as she moves past to go get some help with the dress. "And you guys look good," she calls over her shoulder. She isn't quite don't getting ready either. She was smart enough to get everything else ready though.

"Have I seen Josh?" Henry asks. "He's, what, six foot? Blonde? Really hot? ...never seen him before in my life."

Henry, apparently satisfied with his hair, turns away from the mirror and looks up at Sher as she comes in. "Okay, first things first: take off the dress, so I can make sure you've got the right body for this dress. It might require very close examination." His tone is deadpan, but he gives Sher a wink to let her know he's joking before he moves to start helping her adjust the dress so it hangs properly.

Josh goes red, blushing furiously. "You look pretty good too, Ava," he says. And the blush just gets worse from what Henry asks. He offers Sher a smile as he passes.

When he overhears the joke, the healer steps back to glance into the bathroom. He's ready to comment but stops when he sees that it was only a joke and then starts to head downstairs.

"You're just saying that." says Ava before he turns and flops onto the couch to wait on the others. Where was that black hole again? Ava was starting to think that he might just go check things out there after all...

"As much fun as that could be.... I still need to finish getting ready," Sher points out with a slight smirk sent Henry's way.

She is glad for the help. She finishes her hair up since she can see why it's not doing what she wants it to do.

"Now. For shoes,." She smirks widely. "Do you think I could get away with my combat boots? The dress is big enough to hide them."

Henry shakes his head. "No, no combat boots. Consider the heels a dexterity exercise."

Really, Josh wanted to wear boots or sneakers too. He's in the shoes that they bought for the prom though. Sitting on the couch next to Ava, he smiles. "I am not. You're hot in that suit," he says, leaning over to give the Blue Lantern a peck on the cheek.

"Still can't believe we're going."

Leaning in towards Josh, Ava smiled as he was kissed. It was hard to be pensive when the blond teen was near. "I can't believe we a going either." he replied. "I mean.. I guess I don't quite get the social ramifications, I just don't want to go."

She takes one look at the dress and just smiles slightly.

"I'll just go get the shoes," she says with a slight smile. "Thank you for the assistance Henry."

She took one last look to make sure the dress was fine before she went to go find her shoes. The guys are lucky they don't have to wear heels. She thinks they look like torture devices.

That's because they are torture devices. But so are tuxedo shoes.

Henry takes one last glance in the mirror. He takes a quick sniff of the air to make sure he didn't overdo it with the cologne; so many guys his age think they need to bathe in the stuff. Satisfied, he adjusts his tie and heads downstairs.

"Okay, I guess I'm ready," he declares. His tuxedo has a hunter green vest and tie, of course, but the tuxedo jacket itself has a more unusual cut.

He stands before Josh and Ava, then gives a spin to show off.

"Well?"

Josh agrees about the shoes entirely. He can sense just what they're doing to everyone's feet.

"Not sure I want to go either but Henry and Sher are and it might be fun," Josh replies. When Henry comes down to pose, Josh smiles and stands. He smooths out his own tuxedo and whistles.

"Looking great as always, Henry."

Avalon lets loose a low wstle to Henry's little spin, and grinned some at the teen. "You a, as always, a genious when it comes to dressing yourself, Green." he says.

She does find the shoes and is so going to regret them at a later point she thinks. After she gets them on and checks the dress and her hair a final time she steps out.

It's actually a very nice dark red dress.

"Okay. I'm sorry I'm the last one ready." She brushes her hands over it to make sure it's fine still. "We're ready to go, right?"

"We all look good," Josh remarks, blushing as he does. He offers a hand to help Avalon up and nods. "I think we're good to go. Guys?"

Taking Josh's hand to rise, Avalon brushes is hands down the front of s dove gray tux and grinned to his friends.

"So please remind me of the significance of going to this human ritual dance the last year of your four years in high school?" he asks, honestly curious. "Maybe you humans can explain it to Sher and I before the car gets here."

"It would be nice. Is it a coming of age ritual," she asks.

"In my clan my Uncle tracked me down and had me go through a proving, I really do hope that we are not required to do ritual combat," she feels the need to add with a smile. The young Thanagarian looks down right entertained.

St. Elias didn't have normal prom arrangements, so there were certain.. agreements elsewhere.

And Mandy was a little nervous about tonight as she touched down.

Meanwhile, over in Ivy Town, Dinadan checks his hair, double-checks that there aren't any holes in his chocolate brown suit with mandarin collar, and triple-checks the emergency kit stashed in his pocket. Then he grabs the box with the corsage in it off of his desk and dials the landline at the Jordan house.

Phone travel isn't the easiest, but it gets him where he needs to be pretty darn fast.

Josh goes quiet to let Henry explain the prom. He doesn't get it much either. When the phone rings, he jumps. "I'll get that," he says, heading for the phone. Picing it up, Josh clears his throat.

"Hello, Jordan Residence. Josh speaking."

Henry simultaneously goes for the door.

"Hey, Mandy!"

Mandy smiles brightly. "Hi, Henry! Thanks for letting us meet here."

"Hi Josh, it's Dinadan," Dinadan says. "Could you set the phone down on the table and step away? I'm going to come through and I don't want to knock you over when you're probably dressed up already."

"Hi, Din," Josh smiles. He gives a little laugh and looks around. "Thanks. C'mon through," he says, holding the phone away from himself due to the lack of table near that phone.

"On my way."

Dinadan waved his dad over to hang up the phone once he'd gone through and, securing his grip on the chemically-treated corsage box, shrank down, and hopped into his personal Phoneline Express.

Unfortunately, he kind of expected there to be a tabletop to land on at the end of that particular wild ride, not a fall toward the floor.

"Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!"

Thankfully, Josh has some very quick reflexes. The phone gets dropped as the healer darts forward and puts a hand out to catch Din.

"Oh gosh! Din, are you okay?" Mandy asks from the doorway.

"I'm cool," Dinadan answers from the safety of Josh's hands, waiting for his heart to stop hammering in his chest before he starts fiddling with the switches on his belt. Luckily, he hadn't crushed the corsage box.

Mandy actually blushed -- yeah, Sapphire training doesn't breed the ability out of you or anything. Not even with the bikinis. "Good. You look...really nice."

Josh very carefully hangs the phone back up on the wall, keep an eye on Din with his powers to make sure he's okay.

Sher can't help the way her mouth quirks. "We ever gonna get that explanation?"

Okay so she thought she shouldn't speak up. They were having a moment, right? But seriously she still wants to know why they had this whole prom thing. It was weird.

"Thanks Mandy, you look great too," Dinadan says. He holds out the box with the corsage in it. "Uh, this is for you too."

He blinks in surprise at Sher's question and glances around worriedly "Explanation? For what?"

What did he miss?

Mandy takes the flowers and practically glows. "Oh, it's lovely."

She smiles at Sher. "It's an American adolescent rite of passage. It plays into both relationship rituals and to feed into the need of certain teenagers, stereotypically among females, for a little formal finery now and again. All the more prominent since America doesn't have as many debutante balls anymore."

She looks very puzzled still.

"I'm not entirely sure what a debutante is but I suppose this is somewhat similar a proving," she says with a light shrug. "Only difference is less blood and more layers of clothing."
